Completion nears for 1818 Madison project in Seattle, WA

DIADEM® is pleased to announce its sponsorship of depARTure, a special community event at Lawrence Lofts, their latest green roof project, Saturday, June 16 from 11am-4pm.

DepARTure will feature food trucks, local artists/vendors, wine from Poco Wine Room...and, of course, a rooftop party featuring DJ Colby B.

Green roof engineers and certified contractors, Diadem® USA, recently completed the 6,000 square foot green space perched atop Lawrence Lofts at 1818 Madison, a mixed use, LEED Certified apartment building in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Funds raised will support Building Changes, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness through facilitating public-private partnerships advocacy and outreach.

With 6,000 square feet of green space, designers were able to use a variety of native plants grown in local nurseries to minimize environmental impact from transportation while providing a serene rooftop getaway for residents and guests.

The project, headed by designer Val Thomas with general contractor W. G. Clark and the green roof installes Iliad, Inc., choose DIADEM® because of decades of dedicated green roof engineering experience and ability to customize parts specific to the needs of the structure. “DIADEM®’s green roof is expected to save the building thousands of dollars per year in storm water management fees assessed by Seattle Public Utilities,” said designer Val Thomas.
“Additionally, the green roof requires little maintenance and tempers the building’s heating and cooling costs. This is technology using and respecting nature at the same time.”
